New culinary route celebrates Buffalo’s signature dishes

Visit Buffalo Niagara is unveiling a new culinary tourism experience that celebrates the city’s most iconic flavors: “The Ultimate Buffalo Food Trail,” launched today, guides visitors and locals alike to more than two dozen legendary eateries that have helped define Buffalo’s place on the American food map.

From Buffalo wings and beef on weck to charcoal-grilled hot dogs, sponge candy and frozen custard, this new trail invites hungry travelers to taste their way through the region’s most beloved dishes. Participants can access the self-guided trail online and pick from one of three routes. Head to the city, and through the northern and southern suburbs to explore some of Buffalo’s delicious, classic foods.

“This trail is an invitation and tasting menu,” said Patrick Kaler, president and CEO of Visit Buffalo Niagara. “From the birthplace of the Buffalo wing to long-standing family-run restaurants serving our regional favorites, the ‘Ultimate Buffalo Food Trail’ offers a flavorful roadmap for anyone wanting to discover why Buffalo is one of America’s greatest food destinations.”

The new food route adds to a growing collection of themed trails curated by Visit Buffalo Niagara to highlight the region’s distinct neighborhoods, history and cultural traditions.

Participating locations include purveyors of longtime local favorites such as the Anchor Bar, Schwabl’s, Bocce Club Pizza, Bar-Bill Tavern, Anderson’s Frozen Custard, Watson’s Chocolates and more.
