Triangle Neighborhood Walking Tour

The Triangle Neighborhood in South Buffalo has been home to generations of proud, working-class Buffalonians. On this tour, we explore the triangle formed by Abbott Road, South Park Ave. and Southside Parkway, from which the neighborhood takes its name. Along the way, hear the stories of its residents, from the indigenous Seneca inhabitants to the German and Irish Americans who later settled here, through its modern mixture of newcomers. Enjoy the sights, from modest homes and businesses to venerable institutions such as the Buffalo Irish Center, Holy Family Church and South Park High School, as we explore the growth of the Triangle.

Meet in front of the Buffalo Irish Center at 245 Abbott Road, Buffalo NY 14220. Parking is available along Abbott Road and side streets near the Buffalo Irish Center. Please do NOT park in the Buffalo Irish Center parking lot.

Tour Procedures & Policies: 

• Reservations are required for all tours, including for Explorer Pass members. Walk-ups without reservations cannot be accommodated. Tours are generally limited to a maximum of 15 people per group. 
  • Reservations close two hours before the tour’s scheduled start time (for example, reservations close at 8am for a 10am tour). 
  • To redeem an orange Explore Buffalo walking tour pass, please email [email protected] at least 24 hours in advance to reserve your tour. 
  • The Explore Buffalo docent for your tour will have a list of tour reservations for their tour; you do not need to print or bring any tour confirmation. 
• Accessibility: Please contact us at [email protected] or (716) 245-3032 if you plan to attend this tour and will require accommodations or if you have questions about accessibility. 
• Please wear sturdy walking shoes and dress for the weather. Tours generally proceed rain or shine. In the event of weather that requires a tour cancellation, we will contact registered tour guests in advance of the tour.
