Carolyn Lansom returns to Pausa this Fall, bringing her signature blend of jazz sophistication and genre-crossing artistry. She crafts each set thoughtfully, showcasing timeless standards alongside original arrangements that highlight her dynamic vocal range. In addition to the above, tonight’s  performance will feature curated cross-genre gems and a feature song for each band member.

A Niagara University theater graduate, Carolyn discovered jazz while living in Japan during her husband Dave Lansom’s Navy service. While in Japan, Carolyn tried her hand as a jazz singer and never stopped. Additionally, she maintains a position in the critically acclaimed choir of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Buffalo. Throughout her life, music has always been a part of her, thanks to her supportive family. Her influences are Norah Jones, Etta James, Peggy Lee, Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, and many more.

Why you should choose to see Carolyn Lansom live:

Her trio “Dozo My Lady” was voted JazzBuffalo’s 2023 and 2025 “Favorite Jazz & Pop Group”, and DML has maintained a eight-year residency at Buffalo Distilling Company (2nd Fridays monthly).  Carolyn herself earned ” JazzBuffalo Most Memorable Performance” honors in 2024 as the vocalist for the group My Cousin Tone. This past summer’s Carolyn Lansom Quintet performance at the Northwest Jazz Festival’s Center Street Stage in Lewiston, was another performance to remember.

The ensemble tonight includes, The Dozo My Lady trio: Carolyn Lansom, Greg Skulicz and Dave Lansom plus Dalton Sharp, a buffalo favorite who you have heard with the Jay/Sharptet. Greg Skulicz is a professional guitar instructor and guitar player often heard playing with Henry Summer Kitchen and of course Dozo My Lady.  Carolyn’s impressive multifaceted vocals are perfectly supported by Greg’s jazz, gypsy, and rock stylings. Lastly, holding down the low-end is Dave Lansom, his solid bass technique rounds out the mix and brings it all together. One last point about this group is after more than a decade of playing jazz together their vocal harmonies add just one more touch that make this the group you should choose to see on Saturday April 25th.
