Open Zine Lab: Hosted by Los Artistas Del Barrio

In this workshop hosted by Los Artistas Del Barrio, visitors will explore how art frames us and how we frame ourselves. Whether it is a wound, a sentence, or the border of a painting, guests will consider the ways we cross the invisible boundaries around us.

Participants will move through the gallery or a visually similar space as if navigating a living map, drawing their own connections to the borders that shape our experiences. From there, we will reflect on how we see ourselves within the frameworks that encase or entrap us. These observations will guide us into writing, with time set aside for sharing.

Next, participants will explore the embodiment of their writing. Through voice, gesture, or presence, we will practice performing our work in the same spirit that art performs within the gallery.

By the end, participants can expect to leave with pieces ready for sharing.
