Mount Calvary Cemetery Walking Tour

This tour explores historic and influential residents of WNY who shaped the region & and the world(!) with their contributions. You will be introduced to a theater titan, the Prohibition-era mayor who kicked the KKK to the curb, and the “inventor” of Buffalo’s iconic chicken wing as well as many other interesting “residents” who once called Buffalo their home.

This tour meets at the flagpole adjacent to the Mount Calvary administration building at 800 Pine Ridge Heritage Boulevard, Cheektowaga NY 14225. Parking is available near the administration building. Restrooms are available outside and to the left of the administration building. While most of this tour is on paved roadway, this tour will go over grassy and uneven sections of the cemetery grounds. Proper footwear is advised. 

Tour Procedures & Policies: 

• Reservations are required for all tours, including for Explorer Pass members. Walk-ups without reservations cannot be accommodated. Tours are generally limited to a maximum of 18 people per group. 
  • Reservations close two hours before the tour’s scheduled start time (for example, reservations close at 8am for a 10am tour). 
  • To redeem an orange Explore Buffalo walking tour pass, please email [email protected] at least 24 hours in advance to reserve your tour. 
  • The Explore Buffalo docent for your tour will have a list of tour reservations for their tour; you do not need to print or bring any tour confirmation. 
• Accessibility: While most of this tour is on paved roadway, this tour will go over grassy and uneven sections of the cemetery grounds. • Please wear comfortable walking shoes and dress for the weather. Tours generally proceed rain or shine. In the event of weather that requires a tour cancellation, we will contact registered tour guests in advance of the tour.
