Learn the history of Martin Luther King, Jr. Park, from its birth as part of our famous Olmsted Park system, through name and design changes, to its current status as the vital green space of its East Side neighborhood. Along the way, learn more about some of the buildings surrounding the park and the Buffalo Museum of Science within the park, hear about Buffalo’s first Black architect, and delight in viewing the works of two famous artists.
Meet at the south end of the park casino, the large yellow brick building in the park adjacent to the large splash pad in the center of the park. Parking is available along the park’s ring road (Humboldt Parkway South, which is parallel to Best Street). Note the ring road is one-way and must be entered from the intersection of Best Street and West Parade. From the parking area on the ring road, the park casino building is just past the playground and picnic shelters.
