Long Way Home: 40 Years of the Goo Goo Dolls

The story of the Goo Goo Dolls is deeply connected to the story of Buffalo: resilience, creativity, reinvention, and hometown pride.

Long Way Home: 40 Years of the Goo Goo Dolls celebrates one of Western New York’s most influential cultural stories while welcoming new audiences into The Buffalo History Museum through music, memory, and shared community identity.

The exhibit explores the band’s rise from local Buffalo venues to international acclaim, highlighting not only their musical legacy, but also the broader cultural landscape of Buffalo across the 1980s, 1990s, and early 2000s. Through photography, memorabilia, fashion, media, fan experiences, and stories rooted in place, Long Way Home preserves an important chapter of regional history while creating meaningful connections across generations.
