About the book:
In Incredible Journeys, the authors ask how the most beloved paintings of the Buffalo AKG Art Museum travelled from the artist’s studio to their places on the walls of the museum. Each work undertook a journey that led it to Buffalo, aided along the way by dedicated and farsighted artists, collectors, and curators. These journeys were always circuitous and often treacherous. The stories here pull back the curtain on some of the most important people in the history of the Museum: Lars Sellstedt, Cornelia Sage Bentley, A. Conger Goodyear, Seymour Knox, Paul Rosenberg, Gordon Smith, Martha Jackson, Sidney Janis, and others. Many artists, many paintings, many people, many stories, which, when taken together, reveal so much about the history of our cherished museum.
