The Elliot Scozzaro Quintet will perform original compositions, Great American Songbook standards, and Bebop, Hard Bop, and Post-Bop arrangements by artists like Joe Henderson, Cedar Walton, and Horace Silver. Elliot Scozzaro, a saxophonist, composer, arranger, and educator from Buffalo, NY, holds a Bachelor of Music from Capital University and a Master of Music in Jazz Studies from the University of North Texas (UNT), where he played lead alto saxophone in the One O’ Clock Lab Band.
Elliot is an active freelance musician, touring the U.S., Canada, and Japan with the Glenn Miller Orchestra, Al Stewart and the Empty Pockets, and Louis Prima Jr and the Witnesses. He has performed in Western New York and the Northeast and Midwest with artists like the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra, Father John Misty, Bright Eyes, and Debby Boone.
As a composer, Elliot has created works for small and large ensembles. In 2019, he arranged Brad Leali’s “Carla Ann” for the U.S. Navy Commodores at the 2020 International Saxophone Symposium. In 2022, he received a Statewide Community Regrant for his project “Sounds of Buffalo.” He recently presented an arrangement of “Just Friends” with the Glenn Miller Orchestra.
Elliot is on faculty at Buffalo State University and SUNY Fredonia and serves as the Program Coordinator for the Buffalo Jazz Collective, promoting jazz heritage in Western New York.
