JazzBuffalo & PAUSA art house welcome back one of our favorite artists as Charlie Ballantine returns to celebrate the release of a live recording captured during last spring’s performance at Pausa Art House, an album that shines a light on both the music and the Buffalo jazz community.
Named one of the Top 200 Living Guitarists by All About Jazz and a Rising Star in DownBeat‘s Critics Poll, Ballantine is widely praised for a style where jazz, rock, and folk coexist with clarity and depth. His original recordings, including Vonnegut and Cold Coffee, sit alongside deeply felt interpretations of the jazz tradition, from standards to a double album dedicated to Thelonious Monk.
A graduate of Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music, Ballantine gained international recognition with Life Is Brief: The Music of Bob Dylan, named a Top Ten Jazz Album of the Year by All About Jazz. Whether leading his own projects or collaborating with some of today’s most compelling artists, Ballantine continues to stand out as a distinctive and versatile voice on the guitar.
