Canalside Lecture Series: The Seneca Chief Returns

Join Chelsea Moore of the Buffalo Maritime Center for a look back at the Erie Canal Boat Seneca Chief’s 2025 Bicentennial Voyage and 2026 Back to Buffalo Voyage.

Retracing Governor DeWitt Clinton’s historic 1825 route, the replica canal boat traveled from Buffalo to New York City, stopping at 28 ports along the Erie Canal and Hudson River before returning home in 2026 to connect students with New York’s maritime history.

Chelsea, BMC’s Education Director since 2021, sailed on both voyages and shared the journey through BMC’s Virtual Voyage series.
