Swiston’s Beef & Keg

Swiston’s Beef & Keg sits along the Erie Canal in Tonawanda, where boaters can dock steps from the door. Founded in 1968 by John Swiston, Swiston’s Beef & Keg was the last in his succession of local restaurants. Best known for its classic Buffalo beef on ’weck, the menu also includes the restaurant’s signature chili among a modest selection of familiar comfort foods. Furnished with antiques collected during Swistons’ travels in Mexico, the restaurant has continued under new ownership since Swiston’s retirement in 1984.
