At Red Top, Wardynski red hots are grilled over real charcoal to each customer’s liking, carrying on one of WNY’s greatest food traditions—the coal charred hot dog. Drawing generations since it first opened in 1946, the seasonal food stand passed from John and Millie Mamrosh to John and Helen Woods, before Dennis and Kay McNaney took over in 1980. Today, in co-ownership with daughter Lisa, it continues to offer fresh hand-cut fries and housemade milkshakes, ensuring Hamburg’s Red Top remains a regional rite of passage.
