Buffalo Outer Harbor is a truly unique urban waterfront experience. This stunning, rapidly evolving strip of land along Lake Erie offers over 200 acres of green space with a diverse array of recreational activities just minutes from downtown Buffalo. The site has been transformed into a year-round public- access playground, providing unparalleled views of the city skyline and spectacular Lake Erie sunsets.

The Queen City Bike Ferry provides an easy and affordable connection from Canalside to the vast Outer Harbor parks, including Wilkeson Pointe, the new Terminal B outdoor concert venue, and the Lakeside Complex with its extensive bike park. Buffalo’s Outer Harbor has many key attractions. Wilkeson Pointe is the heart of the site featuring wind-powered sculptures, a small beach area, and plenty of space for picnicking, walking, biking, and relaxing. As part of the Outer Harbor’s redevelopment, the site includes enhanced pedestrian and bike trails, open spaces, and regenerative landscaping. Seasonal food and beverage options are also available here, including the new Perro and Poni Restaurant. The restaurant has a walk-up window with outdoor patio seating facing the water, and features Mexi – Calil food dishes. Lakeside Bike Park is a dedicated area for cyclists of all skill levels and offers both mountain bike tracks and rentals. Bell Slip offers improved public access with a new restroom building and overlook deck to get closer to the water’s edge. The Bell Slip site also includes meadows and pollinator fields. The key attraction at the Outer Harbor is the Terminal B Events Center – the recently opened, open – air event venue and surrounding open space that uses a rehabilitated vacant structure. It hosts the Outer Harbor Live concert series, festivals, and cultural events, with a sloped lawn that accommodates up to 8,000 visitors. It is one of the most exciting concert venues in the Northeast. The Great Lawn is an open area adjacent to Terminal B suitable for passive recreation, festivals, and events. The area is also a hub for water sports. Visitors can use the Independent Health Kayak Launch for non-motorized boats or rent kayaks and paddleboards on site. Free and affordable fitness classes like yoga and boot camps are often hosted on the Great Lawn during the summer season. The city’s only State Park, Buffalo Harbor State Park, is also located at the Outer Harbor. It features a 1,100-slip marina, boat launches, a nautical – themed playground, a splash pad, and waterfront access for strolling and sunbathing. Other nearby Natural Assets at the Outer Harbor include the Tifft Nature Preserve and the Times Beach Nature Preserve. Each of these sites offers trails through marsh and wetlands offering excellent birdlife and wildlife viewing opportunities.

The newest development is also underway. A New Cruise Terminal at Slip 2. The facility will welcome domestic and International Great Lakes cruise ships – positioning Buffalo as a key stop on the Great Lakes Circuit.
