La Nova Pizzeria – Buffalo

La Nova Pizzeria was founded in 1957, when Joe Todaro, known as Papa Joe, opened the original shop in the City of Tonawanda, working alongside his young son, Big Joe. Big Joe later established La Nova in Buffalo, moving it to the West Side in 1973. The local pizzeria achieved national recognition by mastering nationwide distribution of wings and sauce in the 1990s. While beloved for its classic wings and pizza, it’s grown a national reputation for its barbecue wings, which are deep-fried, sauced, and grilled for a charred finish. Today, La Nova is an icon, offering dine-in service, takeout, and delivery.
