Eugene V. Debs Hall at 483 Peckham Street on Buffalo’s East Side is a 501(c)(7) nonprofit social hall dedicated to honoring Buffalo and U.S. labor movement history and the legacy of Eugene V. Debs, the five-time Socialist Party presidential candidate and iconic champion of workers’ rights. Since May Day 2021, the volunteer-driven organization has been restoring a long-vacant historic East Side tavern into a living community space that promotes working class solidarity, mutual aid, localism, and economic cooperation as a foundation for urban regeneration in Buffalo. Open to the public on Thursdays from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM, Debs Hall also hosts a rotating calendar of events and is available to rent for community gatherings, making it a unique cultural and civic destination in the Buffalo labor history landscape.
