What can the past teach students about the choices facing their communities today? How can they help shape what comes next?

The Buffalo History Museum invites high school students to a day of discussion, collaboration, and civic learning. At this interactive forum, students will connect local history to issues they care about, hear different perspectives, and exchange ideas with peers from other schools.

Students will:

  • Explore whose voices have shaped historical narratives and public decisions
  • Hear from speakers with different perspectives on history and community
  • Discuss challenges facing their communities in small groups
  • Develop ideas for civic action and share possible next steps

Part of Erie County’s America 250 commemoration, the forum is especially relevant to U.S. History and Participation in Government classes and to student government representatives. Teachers are invited to attend with their students.
