Redemption – Art Fashion and Film Exhibition

Redemption is a visual story told in three chapters, tracing
Byron Brown ll’s journey through rupture, recovery, and return. The exhibition explores the artist’s relationship with identity, community, creativity, reality, the state of the world and the process of finding his way back to himself.

PART I THE BREAK

This body of work represents a period of confusion, isolation, regret, and a distorted sense of reality. These pieces reflect the emotional and psychological space surrounding the period leading up to and during the artist’s hospitalization, which lead to hiatus.

“Mania and psychosis inflicted my mind. My Actions weren’t indicative of the mission I was given – to lead with love and transcend light my words weren’t reflective of the rapport I had built within my community.”

PART II THE REBUILDING

Created during his recovery, these works capture the process of rebuilding: rediscovering identity, reconnecting with creativity, and finding his artistic voice again. This chapter represents growth, reflection, and the beginning of a new direction and new discipline.

PART III THE RETURN

The newest work in the exhibition represents where Byron is today. These pieces reflect his return to the Buffalo art scene and his continued journey as an artist: “leading with love, trandscending light, creating to inspire, evolving, doing his due diligence to create a better quality of life for those coming after him and using the work as social commentary to reflect on/speak on the times.”
