Inaugural Reenactment

On September 14th, 1901, Theodore Roosevelt stood in the library of the Ansley Wilcox home and raised his hand to take the oath of office as the twenty-sixth President of the United States.

On the 125th Anniversary of this transformational event, the TR Site will host a live reenactment of the inauguration featuring world-renowned TR repriser Joe Wiegand. The reenactment will take place in the very room where Theodore Roosevelt uttered the 35-word presidential oath of office.

Just as Theodore Roosevelt did in 1901, Joe Wiegand will be arriving in Buffalo by train on the afternoon of September 14th. “TR” is expected to arrive downtown at approximately 3:45pm (depending on Amtrak’s arrival time). He will then make his way to the historic Ansley Wilcox House and prepare to ” take the oath at once” at approximately 4:30pm.

The event will be livestreamed on the TR Site’s social media platforms, but there is space for a limited number of people to join “TR” in the library and witness the reenactment in-person.
