Friends & Neighbors in the Fruit Belt Walking Tour (1pm)

Stroll among the tree-shaded streets of one of Buffalo’s oldest historic neighborhoods while learning its storied history and current status as a beloved, tight-knit community. Be inspired by the residents who have banded together to help each other, from the time of 19th -century immigrant settlement, through tumultuous changes in the 20th century, and current challenges of incorporating the growth of the nearby Medical Campus. A tour of Roswell Park’s Community Outreach & Engagement Center is included.

Meet at the Roswell Park Community Outreach & Engagement Center at 907 Michigan Avenue, Buffalo NY 14204 – at Michigan & Virginia. Parking is available in the lot for the Roswell Park Community Outreach & Engagement Center at Michigan and Virginia, or along Michigan Ave – please pay attention to the street signs. Parking on Michigan is free on weekends and after 5pm on weekdays. If spots are not available in the Community Outreach & Engagement Center’s parking lot or on Michigan, park in the Roswell Park parking ramp and your parking will be validated. Restrooms are available in the Roswell Park Community Outreach & Engagement Center where the tour begins. This tour is 90 minutes in length and approximately 1.5 miles of walking.

Tour Procedures & Policies: 

• Reservations are required for all tours, including for Explorer Pass members. Walk-ups without reservations cannot be accommodated. Tours are generally limited to a maximum of 15 people per group. 
  • Reservations close two hours before the tour’s scheduled start time (for example, reservations close at 8am for a 10am tour). 
  • To redeem an orange Explore Buffalo walking tour pass, please email explore@explorebuffalo.org at least 24 hours in advance to reserve your tour. 
  • The Explore Buffalo docent for your tour will have a list of tour reservations for their tour; you do not need to print or bring any tour confirmation. 
• Accessibility: Please contact us at explore@explorebuffalo.org or (716) 245-3032 if you plan to attend this tour and will require accommodations or if you have questions about accessibility. 
• Please wear sturdy walking shoes and dress for the weather. Tours generally proceed rain or shine. In the event of weather that requires a tour cancellation, we will contact registered tour guests in advance of the tour.
